Regional Show - Call for Entries!

Hello SAQA SoCal/SoNev members!

Just a reminder that “Stitch Dialectic,” our next regional exhibition at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts, is coming up in April 2016. 

The online submission window opens January 15 and closes February 15. Please make a note that the deadline is at midnight, Central Standard Time, not Pacific Standard Time as stated in the prospectus.

STITCH DIALECTIC is a juried exhibition of contemporary textiles showcasing the unique artistic voices of SAQA members living and working in the Southern California and Southern Nevada region.

The Poway Center for the Performing Arts is a stunning venue with more than 70,000 patrons passing through its doors each year. For the entire month of April 2016, the STITCH DIALECTIC exhibit will grace the circular walls of both the grand lobby and second level floor of this beautiful facility located in North County San Diego. 
Entry fee is $25 for up to three quilts.

 Entries must have been completed on or after January 1, 2013.  Artwork must meet the SAQA definition of an art quilt: the art quilt is a creative visual work that is layered and stitched or that references this form of stitched layered structure.   Accepted work is subject to final approval after the actual work arrives. Work that doesn’t fall within the size limitations and/or differs significantly from the digital image representing it will not be displayed.   Artwork must be original (not executed in the classroom, under educational guidance or supervision).   Poway Center for Performing Arts requests that accepted pieces be suitable for all ages.  Artwork will be offered for sale.  The interested party will be asked to contact the artist directly.   15% of each sale is due and payable to the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. 
Artwork needs to be received by March 5, 2016. Shipping instructions will be sent to the artists’ whose work is accepted. Artists are responsible for two-way shipping costs, so please include a prepaid return shipping label when mailing. Artists are responsible for insuring their work.  
Artwork must have a sleeve on the back that is at least 1” from the top and ending 1” away from each side.  A wooden slat must be included and have eyehooks on each end. 
Artwork must include a label on the back with the artist’s name as well as the title of the work.  
Width: minimum of 15” to a maximum of 42"
Height: minimum of 15” to a maximum of 80"

Art Call online entry system goes live:  January 15, 2016
Art Call online entry system closes:  February 15, 2016 (at midnight Pacific Standard Time)
Notifications of Acceptances/Rejections:  February 20, 2016
Accepted Artwork Delivery Date:  February 26 -- March 5, 2016
Exhibition Opens:  April 1, 2016
Exhibition Closes: April 30, 2016 

 Submit one overall digital image and one detail digital image for each piece of artwork.  Digital images must be saved as a high quality JPEG file (No TIFF files).  Finished images should be a minimum of 2100 pixels on the longest side. 
Statement of Release
I agree to loan my artwork to Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. I understand that the costs of insuring and shipping my artwork to the shipping center in California are my responsibility. I further agree to permit the images or detail images and/or all or part of my artist's statement to be used in the exhibit catalog, articles, ads, promotions, books, websites, blogs, CD's, current event news coverage, television productions, and/or multi-media productions for and about exhibit or for and about the shows at which the exhibit may be seen.
