Workshops

Deborah Weir will be teaching a one day embellisher machine felting workshop in her Palos Verdes studio on March 3. It is best if students have their own machine but one student can use hers ($75 to use hers, $65 if you bring their own). The class is from 10-4 and includes lunch. We cover using the embellisher with both felt and wool to build up layers, creating cut out sections, comparing how the different fabrics respond, using hooped dress/quilt weight cottons for the equivalent of raw edge appliqué - a much quicker, more nimble method, experimenting with a wide range of textiles (ribbon, yarn, silks, chiffons, etc.) to see how they are altered when run through the embellisher, developing shading, exploring the machine’s capacity to secure previously stitched fabrics and creating a ground cloth for further stitching. Among MUCH else. She will send out a supply list upon receipt of payment. To sign up contact her at 310 325-1895, FiberFly@cox.net, www.DeborahWeir.net or FiberFly.blogspot.com
