Pasadena Bead and Design Show features the work of 300 artists and artisans showcasing wearable art, handmade beads, designer components, precious metals, embellishments, lapidary, art jewelry, ceramics, carved stones, glass art, textiles, fiber arts, metalwork, enameling, art couture, hand-woven, collectibles, and decorative arts –together with artisan suppliers. There will be workshops and forums in bead making, jewelry design, textile art, shibori, millinery, metalwork, weaving, art clay silver, Chinese knotting, polymer clay, creative fiber, embellishment, and beadwork. Some of the Special Exhibits include: Contemporary South African Quilts by Rosalie Dace; Noble Elements: Air; Beauty in Imperfection '07 and A Slice of Southern California - work by Quilts on the Wall: Fiber Artists; and
Fiber Force: A Futuristic Approach; Lisa Chipetine, of Studio Art Quilt Associates, curated this collection of avant-garde works, procured from a consortium of international quilt and fiber artists that she considers trail blazers in the medium. This collection "breaks boundaries" and exhibits a "no rules" approach.

16th Annual Discovery Tour - Open Studios - Nov 22 & 23rd; Connie Rohman and other artists throughout the Arroyo area open their studios and homes to visitors once a year, in the month of November, for the Discovery Tour. Sponsored by the Arroyo Arts Collective and the Historical Society of Southern California, showcases the artistic riches of the community. The neighborhoods of Highland Park, Mt. Washington and Eagle Rock are home to one of the largest concentrations of artists in Los Angeles. Artists will open their homes and studios for people to tour and purchase art. With over 80 participating artists, there will be plenty to see, including fiber art, fused glass art, oil painting, assemblage, and other art forms.

Quilt National '09. Deadline September 5, 2008.Work must: 1) possess the major basic structural characteristics of a quilt; 2) be an original design of the entrant; 3) measure no more than 108". General Exhibit Description: This exhibition will showcase the work of member artists whose work has not been shown in a national or international SAQA exhibition in the last 3 years. This also includes new SAQA members. We will present emerging artist members whose work is both excellent and unique yet hasn't managed to catch the jurors' eyes until now. Artists whose work has not been into a juried all-SAQA exhibition since January 2005 are invited to enter. Those exhibitions were: Best of SAQA, Exposed, On the Wall, Transformations '06, '07, '08, Creative Force '06, '07 and A Sense of Time.
